There are lots of fabulous restaurants in easy driving distance from Log Cabin on the Rocks. Most of them are on Alberta Street. Alberta Street is the main drag in Oneida, Tennessee. Alberta Street is 7 miles away and has restaurants, grocery stores, retailers, and gas stations. Below are some local restaurants. Swing by their websites, check out their menus, and support our local eateries. This is a very small town, and the local restaurants have STRANGE HOURS. I highly recommend CALLING before you drive over there to make sure they are open. It is not unusual for restaurants to be closed on Sundays and holidays especially.
Gather Coffee Lounge is not on Alberta Street (close though), and it is less than 7 miles away from our log cabin. They have amazing coffee, pastries, and don’t forget the merch.
County’s BBQ is a wonderful outdoor eatery with some of the best barbecue we have ever eaten, which says a lot since we moved here from Memphis, TN. You must try the apple pie!!!! It is sooo good. The patio seating is warmed in the winter by patio heaters, and the smell of smoky barbecue goodness wafts throughout patio. Read my yelp review here.
Mary Belle’s Ice Cream is the perfect treat! Host favorite
Phillips’ Drive-In has typical American fast food style diner.
El Rey Azteca is a host favorite. It is not fancy. It is just good Mexican food. Trisha could drink a glass of their salsa. Dine-in available. Located near WalMart.
Element Asia now offers both dine-in or take out, and it is some of the best Asian food we have ever had. If you like sweet & savory combination foods, I highly recommend the Coconut Pineapple Fried Rice.
RaeZack’s Great Steaks & Country Cooking is in Helenwood, TN but it is actually closer than many Oneida restaurants. Really good country food at great prices. Weird hours. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Likely to be closed on most holidays. Call before you visit.
Preston’s Steakhouse is a fabulous local restaurant with good food and decent prices compared to other steakhouses.
Ruth’s Little Asian Food has daily Filipino specials.
Little’s Drug & Fountain has panini style sandwiches with daily soup specials. Also check out their ice cream desserts.
Terri’s Homemade Sweetie Pies is only typically open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but will often be closed on holidays. Each day they are open, they have specials along with some of the best looking desserts.
The Oneida Primitive Barn is a quaint restaurant opened only one day a week (Saturdays) and for limited seasons (April – Mid-December). They have a very limited menu, but the food is really good. This is also the best place to get local desserts, breads, and treats as well as a huge assortment of antiques. It is a very unique place that is definitely worth the trip.
Across the Kentucky border, you can find this gem with country cooking. Located in the same building as Big South Fork Scenic Railway and a short walk from McCreary County Museum.
If you happen upon a local or out of town food truck, consider yourself in luck! Some of the best food can be found at Ruth’s Little Asian Kitchen Truck which makes fabulous Filipino cuisine or Mimzy & Punkin’s Hawaiian shaved ice or specialty dawgs.
Typical Fast Food Restaurants
Little Caesars is a popular chain restaurant with super cheap pizza. I have had mixed experiences at this branch, but you can’t beat the price.
Hardee’s is easily our favorite fast food restaurant in town.
If you find yourself further out (or would like to drive a bit more) check out these restaurants on the Discover Scott County website.
